La formation médicale continue dès le début de la matinée. Et cette fois-ci, les choses sérieuses commencent. Au programme aujourd’hui, les injections intramusculaires et la perfusion. Nous commençons par la formation sur les injections, qui est en grande partie théorique, notamment concernant la méthode et la position d’injection. Elle est très peu pratique, vu qu’elle se limite à la préparation de seringues. Il est évidemment hors de question que l’un d’entre nous serve de cobaye pour une injection d’adrénaline ou de cortisone, par exemple.

En revanche, les activités pratiques consacrées à la perfusion ont le mérite de nous investir tous de manière beaucoup plus importantes, puisque nous alternons nos rôles de soignant et cobaye pour les besoins de l’exercice. Yvan ouvre le bal sur Steeve, suivi de Rémi sur Gabriel, puis de Steeve cette fois-ci dans le rôle du bourreau sur Yvan.

C’est ensuite mon tour de m’essayer à l’art de la perfusion, Yoann se prêtant cette fois-ci au rôle de cobaye. De la poche suspendue à son portant, j’accroche une tubulure au bout de laquelle doit être raccordée une seconde tubulure équipée d’un robinet. Une fois ces deux tubulures purgées, il est temps de passer à l’installation de la perfusion sur l’avant-bras qui doit permettre l’injection dans la veine du liquide à perfusion. Il faut alors pénétrer cette veine d’une aiguille entourée d’une gaine plastique de faible diamètre, jusqu’à mi-distance. L’aiguille doit alors être retirée et la gaine inséré en entier dans le même temps. Un petit flux de sang doit alors indiquer si la gaine est bien placée dans la veine. Il apparaît que ce n’est pas le cas après la première tentative. Je procède alors à l’installation d’une seconde aiguille, installation qui est cette fois-ci couronnée de succès.

Après le repas, nous retournons à l’hôpital pour terminer les exercices. Yoann pose une perfusion à Cécile avant d’être perfusé une deuxième fois dans la journée par Gabriel. Vient ensuite mon tour de servir de cobaye à Cécile, malgré ma profonde aversion pour les piqûres sous toutes les formes. Mais tout se passe bien, et Hélène peut se déclarer satisfaite du travail de ses élèves.

The medical training continues since the beginning of the morning. And this time, serious things really start. Today's program are the intramuscular injections and the drip. We start the training with the injections, which is mostly theoretical, particularly concerning the method and the position for the injection. It is only few practical, since it is limited to the preparing of the syringe. It is obviously out of question that one of us will act as a guinea-pig for adrenaline or cortisone injections, for instance.

On the contrary, the practical activities dedicated to the drip do invest all of us in a much more important manner, since we alternatively act as nurse or guinea-pig for the needs of the exercise. Yvan opens the ball on Steeve, followed by Rémi on Gabriel, and then by Steeve having this time the role of the tormentor on Yvan.

My turn comes to experience the art of dripping, Yoann acting this time as the guinea-pig. From the pocket hanged on its stay, I hook a neck at the end of  of which an other neck equipped with a tap has to be attached. Once these two tubes being purged, it is time to install the drip on the arm, which will allow the injection of the dripping liquid inside of the vein. It has to be penetrated by a needle surrounded by a small diameter plastic case, until half its length. The needle then has to be removed and the case to be entirely inserted by the same time. A weak flow of blood has to indicate if the case is well place inside of the vein. It appears that it is not the case after my first attempt. I proceed to the installation of a second needle, which is this time crowned with success. 

After the meal, we go back to the hospital to end the exercises. Yoann installs a drip on Cécile before being a dripped a second time in the day by Gabriel. My turn comes to act as the guinea-pig for Cécile, in spite of my deep aversion for injections in all their forms. But everything goes alright, and Hélène can declare herself satisfied by her students' work.

tu ne t'es pas gouré au moins dans le dosage du goutte à goutte (?) Pas de malaises, pas de transferts d'urgence ?
