Hors donc, l’Osiris repose au mouillage. Alors qu’un premier groupe avait pris place sur le zodiac pour partager le repas de midi à bord, j’ai l’opportunité d’aller visiter à mon tour le navire en milieu d’après-midi. Des vagues grandissantes agitent le zodiac face à la Cale, et il faut sauter à l’intérieur d’un bond résolu après avoir descendu quelques barreaux de l’échelle. Sur le chemin vers l’Osiris, les grands creux perturbant l’océan font par moments décoller le zodiac d’une manière impressionnante.

Nous gagnons ensuite le bord par une échelle déployée le long de la coque, pour être accueillis consécutivement par le lieutenant puis par le capitaine. Après une visite d’une demi-heure environ, nous remontons à bord du zodiac, par là où nous étions venus, puis nous faisons cap sur la Cale. La houle a encore forci, bien aidée par un vent d’ouest grandissant. Alors que je m’apprête à empoigner l’échelle, une grosse vague percute l’embarcation et me renverse à l’intérieur, détrempé. La deuxième tentative est la bonne, je regagne la terre ferme et je peux alors savourer à souhait la saveur de ce tout premier cadeau de Noël.

So then, the Osiris is anchoring. After a first group took place on the zodiac to share the lunch on board, I have the opportunity of visiting the boat in the middle of the afternoon. Growing waves agitate the zodiac in front of the Cale, and one has to jump inside of it with a resolute jump after having went down some rungs of the scale. On the way to the Osiris, big hollows agitating the ocean make some times fly the zodiac in a very impressive way.

We then reach the board thanks to a scale deployed along the hull, for being consecutively welcome by the lieutenant and the captain. After visiting the boat for half an hour, we go back to the zodiac, from where we were gone, then we turn the cape to the Cale. The swell has become even stronger, helped by an increasing western wind. As I start taking the scale, a huge wave knocks on the ship and throws me inside, all wet. The second attempt is the good one, I join the ground and I can then appreciate the flavour of this first Christmas gift.
